NEW PUBLICATION - Priority Populations in Early Childhood Obesity Prevention Interventions: A Scoping Review
Led by Dr Talia Palacios, this scoping review, Priority Populations in Early Childhood Obesity Prevention Interventions, published in Pediatric Obesity, highlights that current interventions do not adequately target, reach, and engage priority populations. The review included the 82 eligible trials identified in TOPCHILD and found that while over half targeted priority populations, only a third exclusively enrolled participants from these groups. The findings emphasise the need to tailor interventions to better support these groups and promote health equity. To address these gaps, we call for targeted recruitment strategies, inclusive research practices, and policies that tackle broader social determinants of health—such as socio-economic status, access to care, and psychological well-being.
